Just Something I Whipped Up

Why hello there! I was a wee bit bored so I was playing around with shapes and stuff in Photoshop, because my mom wanted me to make signs. Anyway I loved these little hearts and have always loved bunting, so I put the two together. Then in my little artistic mind thought of the text to put on and, ta-da!!!!! I came up with this lovely thing. O I thought I should say please don’t try to sell any of my amateur prints or claim them as your own. I work hard on these and expect my lovely readers to be honest people!

Happy Thanksgiving to you all! I hope your day has been filled with joy and happiness. One of my relatives said today, “Thankfulness is one of the most wonderful emotions we can possess. Every day we should be thanking God for all the provisions He has given us.” I know it sounds cliché but we really should have every day be full of thanks, and remember to thank God for His wonderful plans for all of us! And also we should remember why we celebrate Thanksgiving and all those who risked everything so we can have our many freedoms.

Arizona and Randomness

Happy Monday!! As you may have noticed I changed my font! I thought this one was easier to read! Well I had a very eventful time last week. I went to Arizona for a business meeting and didn’t have internet to post anything! I felt very disconnected. I was amazed at how beautiful a desert could be though. God’s creation never ceases to amaze me.

Random fact, when my parents and I were site seeing a dust storm kicked up, I thought it was odd how the sky and the ground were the same color. I wish I could have gotten a picture but small car windows make that difficult.

Just a Thought

Finally I got a minute to post! I feel like I haven’t had a break for 5 days! Well other than in my car! On the way to work yesterday I saw the prettiest clouds. They looked like waves and in some spots had a hole like area. It’s kind of indescribable; I wish I had my camera, now I can’t even find a picture online like it. They were just amazing! I was awestruck by God’s creation! It made me feel so small and yet so honored that I was witnessing this sight. I just thought I would share this awesome experience w9th all of you. Thinking Out Loud

Lately I have been asking God “why” a lot.

Why am I sick?

Why can’t I be normal?

Why does life have to be 20 times harder than the people I see around me?

Putting all those together, I realized how selfish that is. I have so much to be thankful; for. All my confusion is a blessing. My questions shouldn’t be about me, they should be about God and what He wants out of my life.

Guitar Strap Cover

 Today I have prepared a little tutorial for my lovely readers! It’s a guitar strap cover.  First I must tell a little back story. A couple years ago my brother got a guitar for Christmas and quickly became an amazing musician with his guitar. Now he plays at out small church in the worship department and I sing. I was very inspired by my brother’s talent and decided I wanted to learn to play. I have had my guitar for almost a year and know a whopping 4 chords! But with this strap I can rock those four melodious chords in style! (End back story), now onto the tutorial.

Materials

• Guitar or Camera Strap
• Fabric (I'm not sure exactly how much I used)
• Interfacing (the same size as your fabric)
• Sewing Machine (duh!)
• Thread to Match Your Fabric
• Scissors or Rotary Cutter
• Measuring Utensil

Let's Get Started, Shall We?

 

1.    Okay, first adjust your strap to the length you need and measure how long it is. Add an inch and cut your fabric the length (plus the one inch) and a width of 5 inches (so your fabric will be your measured length + one inch BY five inches)   .

2.   Cut your interfacing the same measurements as the fabric and iron it onto the WRONG side of your fabric (aka the side your pattern isn't on)

3.   This next one is optional. If you want to quilt your strap (I did 3 quilts of each side). Set your sewing machine's stich so its as far left as it will go. (Like this)

4.   Now line up the edge of the fabric with foot of your sewing machine. Sew a straight line and then line up your  first line with the foot and sew another one (remember to back stich!) continue this until you decide there is enough quilting on your strap.

5.   Now lets hem up the short ends. Fold the end over a quarter (1/4) inch. Then iron, pin, and sew (remember to set your stich back to normal!)

6.   Next fold the strap in half (long ways with right sides together) pin and sew.

7.   And finally turn your strap inside out and slip it over your strap.

8.   And you're all finished! Enjoy your new stylish strap!

New Things

Whew, I finally got enough focus to actually write a new post! If you hadn’t noticed I changed the name of my blog. I thought it was more fitting. As followers of Christ we must live every second for Him and chase the Son until the end of the day and the end of all time (which means forever!).

In other news I’m whipping up a tutorial for a guitar strap cover I made a couple weeks ago so keep checking back for when that is completed!

I also wanted to tell you all (if there is more than one person reading) than Pinterest is amazing! I just joined and have been pinning ever since! All of you should check it out!

Better Than Twitter

That title is a joke. I was telling my brother why blogging is better than posting a status every 3 seconds (no offense to any tweeters out there).

Well right on cue (as every year) my POTS is pushing my limits farther than usual; but it’s when I’m at the end of my rope that God comes in and extends it. I know there is no possible way I could have made it this far without Him. I pray every day for those who try to make this crazy journey without Him; it’s simply impossible.  POTS can make anyone stronger, but God gives you joy while getting there (I may just make that one my Facebook status). I’m kidding about that.

Recent Crafting

Well dear readers my POTS is in full flair up mode right now! Fall is always terrible for me because of that nasty ragweed allergy! Will you pray with me for all the other people who are suffering now as well? I know they would appreciate it immensely!

That's How I ended Up Here

Another question I get a lot is how I got diagnosed with POTS. Well this is a complex answer. Let me start by saying I switched from a public school to the private Christian school I attend now. At my school we do something called senior presentations. We explain how we have seen God in our lives and where we feel Him taking us. I was a sophomore when a girl presented her presentation for one of our chapel's at school. She explained how she was bogged down with these many symptoms and how she had gone to Mayo Clinic and had a tilt table test and was diagnosed with POTS. At this point I had gone from specialist to specialist for two agonizing years, all telling me these symptoms were in my mind. This was their way of saying "we don't know what's going on". When this girl was explaining what she had been through I thought wow that sounds a lot like me! I went home and asked my mom to set up an appointment with Mayo. Of course it was a while before I could get in, but I did. They did the tilt table test which was really easy and kinda fun being on a table that goes from a supine position to standing. My heart rate dropped and my pulse  raised a lot. That was all the proof they needed and I was diagnosed with dysautonomia or POTS. While the diagnosis was a huge relief my symptoms have continued to get worse.  I fully depend on God for everything in my life. I see how He is daily working through my suffering to bring me and others closer to Him. Its been over four years with my battle of POTS and God has done unspeakable things through my journey. I look back and wonder how I ever made it this far and there is only one answer, God. He truly is amazing and I am proud to be a child of Him. He continually shows His goodness to this day! You really can't make it though this without HIM.
